Miley Cyrus is known for her racy performances and barely-there
outfits at award shows. But, the twerking pop star used her celebrity
status for good at the VMAs on Sunday night.
Cyrus had a homeless teen named Jesse accept her award for Video of the Year.
"I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and
homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared
for their lives right now. I know this because I am one of these
people," Jesse said.
The "Wrecking Ball" artist shed a few tears as she listened to Jesse's speech from the side of the stage.
Cyrus posted a video to her Facebook Sunday night asking fans to donate to the Prizeo fund she set up to raise money for the L.A. homeless shelter, My Friend's Place.
After the show, Cyrus and Jesse celebrated the win with a trip to In-N-Out Burger.
In other Miley news, the pop star announced on the pre-show red carpet that she is retiring from twerking.
Cyrus told MTV host Sway Calloway that we can expect something more "psychedelic" from her in the future.
